    Shortcut links

I can most most program links on the desktop but not to any samba shares.

Even the samba link icon I make by dragging it to the desktop makes the link but then the system does not know that the link is.

    Why is that?

Anyone know how to make a link to samba shares on the desktop?

    thanks in advanced

    Re: Shortcut links

    1. Right click on your desktop.

    2. Select: Create New --> Link to Location (URL)

    3. When the dialog box comes up, try entering this:

    for File name: test

for Enter link to location (URL): smb:/

If samba is configured properly -- and you actually have any shared folders -- you should see a new icon on the desktop. KDE automatically figures out it's a samba link and even chooses the correct icon.

To create other links, just enter the URL you see in Dolphin or Konqueror.
