Logging into swat (Samba configuration tool)

How can I log into swat? It won't accept "root" and the root password as a login.

SWAT requires root password and wont work with sudo

So to use it you will need to

sudo passwd root

create password for root then use that to sign in

*One other thing
I used this as a guide to setup samba and got it up and running real quick. Could be used as an alternative:

I already had a password for root, but I tried what you suggested anyway. It didn't help at all. I've also tried using smbpasswd to set a password, but that doesn't help either. No matter what I do, swat won't let me log in.
