    Samba/Dolphin

I have Samba doing a peer-to-peer connection between a Hardy (KDE) box and a Win (W2K) box. The LAN appears to work perfectly in both directions, with one single exception.

When I attempt to access the W2K box from Hardy using Dolphin, I can see the LAN/workgroup, the W2K system, and enter the W2K shared folder. But any attempt to access a file in that folder results in a 'file does not exist' error msg from Dophin.

On the other hand, doing the same access from Konquerer works perfectly.

    Any enlightenment would be appreciated...

    Re: Samba/Dolphin

I have a similar problem at work when accessing my network folder, only I get an error saying a specific file doesn't exist. I access my shared folder, it comes up with that error, but I'm still able to access any other files that are there.

I suspect it might have something to do with a character, or UNC length, in the filename in my case, and perhaps a character in the UNC path in your case.

I'm going to try playing with the filename tomorrow, as well as comparing Dolphin to Konqueror, to see how many different ways I can break it

      Thanks for your reply, Graham.

In my case Dolphin correctly sees (lists) files in Windows shares but cannot open them. For example, a Windows text file will be shown in Dolphin's displayed list for that directory, but clicking on the file (from within Dolphin) results in a "File does not exist" message. Konquerer opens such files just fine.
