Search index

I just installed the KDE4 desktop. When I tried to do a search, I was told that I needed to build a search index. OK -- but the "Build Index" button is greyed out. What do I do next? The permissions of~/.kde4/share/apps/khelpcenter/index allow me access to it, so that's probably not the problem.

I posted this query elsewhere because I couldn't post it here, so I'm reposting it to the right place.

You need to check the box before the button becomes 'available.' See below:

your example says "application manuals" next to a check box

here it says

search sc status without any checkbox.

khelpcenter is installed.

any clues?
