      Where are you with this? According to this wiki, there may be an easy fix:
      http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Xorg

      Namely,
      Code:
      kdesudo kate /etc/kde4/kdm/kdmrc
      Then, try what they suggest in the wiki:
      look for the line starting with "ServerArgsLocal" and there add the"-dpi 96" part.
      I am guessing that might do the job.

      @GGfix is not a package AFAIK, but an option in rescue mode. It's been there forever, but I think it is gone in Karmic?
