When you go to install, it will give you a choice of "guided" (or something like that), or to specify manually. Guided means "automatic" and out of your control (I know, it's backwards) and you don't want that one. Choose to do it manually. The two partitions should be root and home. This is specified as "/" and "/home". The root partition should be maybe 15-20MB - you won't ever need more. The /home partition should be the rest of it.
When the rest of the installation continues, the installer will automatically put all the various parts of the OS in the root (smaller) partition. Your personal files (and some configuration files) will automatically go into the /home partition.
