    Kubuntu 8.04 Removal

    I have Kubuntu 8.04 installed on the family PC. It's been great of course. However, my family didn't like it very much (the dual-boot and the division wasn't to their liking... or most likely didn't understand much about all this). Either way I got myself a laptop and have Kubuntu 9.04 on it. Right now I wish to remove Kubuntu 8.04 from the family PC since I'm not going to use it anymore (and my family will be pleased). How can I achieve this?

    Please describe what you would like the family PC to be/look like after you're done.

      Well, that when the PC turns on it goes directly to Windows (Vista) and that there is absolutely no Kubuntu on the computer anymore.

        Do NOT "remove" Kubuntu unless and until you have restored the Vista bootloader! (otherwise, it will be difficult/inconvenient to boot your Vista since Stage 2 GRUB is in your Kubuntu partition). (=> e.g., Super Grub Disk to the rescue)
        Not into Vista, sorry, maybe others here know about Vista's "restore" utilities, but this may help:

        Do that first and FULLY test it more than once (three times).
        (Test it by re-booting the PC and make sure that Vista's bootloader takes you into Vista, with no trace of the GRUB menu appearing.)


        Then others can help you get rid of Kubuntu. (Basically, just use GParted Live CD to re-partition/reformat the space where Kubuntu is located, so you can re-use that space; and/or re-size the Vista partition using the Vista utility for doing so.)
