Re: Kubuntu crash, now stuck in Ash

Hm, that is news to me. Thanks, dibl.

Anyway, after going through the whole rigmarole of reinstalling grub from the live CD neither keyboard nor mouse work in kdm, i.e. the system is useless

Sidux still boots on sda7 though and so does 8.04 on sda5. Only 8.10 on sda6 is buggered (all kernels) and I am just about to slip the ArchLinux CD in there and see if I can't bork the whole laptop...

Having said that, on initial partitiong of the disk I did reserve a 250MB sda2 for "eventualities" and I am going to make this my dedicated grub partition as per Qqmike's often quoted hermanzone so as to avoid further disasters (such as accidentally wiping out my boot partition!). Cross fingers, hope to die...

Let us know what those lines before the "BusyBox" line say!

Here it is -- not block size, but inode bytes (senility strikes again):

Wow! Thanks But after a close shave with Grub2 I've been using nothing but Grub legacy so that wasn't the problem...
