    busybox on boot

I turned on my laptop today and after the kubuntu loading finished it brought me to:

"BusyBox v1.1.3 (Debian 1:1.1.3-5ubuntu12) Built in Shel (ash) Enter 'help' for built in commands
    (initramfs)"

Kubuntu 8.04 has been working fine on my computer for a few months and this is the first time I have ever seen this, I haven't made any partition changes the last thing I installed was the 'tree' command and maybe the updates I can't say for sure though, anyone know how I can get back to my desktop or more importantly how this may of happened?

    thanks

That message, unfortunately, can mean anything or nothing.
There's been a lot of posts here about it -- one recently that was pretty good (try a search on this forum).

try typing at the busybox promt:
    exit
and press Enter; see if that gets past it.
