    8.10 worse at each boot

Upgrade from 8.04 to 8.1 was OK at first.
Each boot after upgrade to 8.1, I found more of my personal settings changed. Then my shortcut to kppp quit. Next I had to configure kppp again; why would it use kppp to connect thru cellular data card for 3 boots, then next boot have wiped the setup? Next I was not allowed to run kppp and had to add to my groups to run kppp.
Now I am allowed to run kppp, it is again configured and refuses to find the modem on USB0.
I could chase the latest problem but what will Kubuntu change next? Will 8.10 refuse to let me use my USB drives as 8.04 sometimes did?
After 5 system starts in 8.1, this is written using a Windiz computer.

Oh, great, now Dolphin has refused to access my USB flash drive because it is not in fstab.
I am going back to Lenny, no sense in chasing a moving target to get access to my flash drive of passwords.
Working...
