Graphics issue (I think) Install won't even start.

Having some pretty awful times here trying to get Kubuntu installed.

First, I was getting that Buffer I/O error a ton of other people were having, due to things thinking I had a floppy drive. I fixed that.

Now, what happens is every time I go to install, I get the bouncy screen and everything is fine and then my monitor starts flickering on and off, each time booting into a more messed up screen with lines through it, until it finally gives up altogether and kicks me to a terminal with font so big I can't read anything.

I've tried using F4 and scrolling down to Safe Mode Video or whatever before installing, and that doesn't seem to help a thing.

My videocard is a Radeon x800.

I found another thread detailing this problem that told me I'd have to set up X manually, but this is currently impossible because the resolution at the boot screen causes text to wrap and cut off at the bottom, hiding all options and entered text.

This is really ridiculous, I thought Ubuntu was supposed to be the desktop ready Linux distro. Debian barely required user input to install.
