KDE 4.x and 3.5.x in the same system?

    Hi All

I have KDE 3.5.10 installed in my system, and I would like to install the 4.X version to try it and in the view of un upgrade to Intrepid.

Do the environments could live together without problems?

And if so, there will be double installation of the software, as I think?

More, in my menus will I see different versions of the same program, if installed?

    TIA
    Ciao,<br />Valter

    Hello.
It is possible to have both in your computer, actually I work that way the only thing you need to do is go to Adept Installer search for KDE4 and install all the stuff you find and then next time you start your linux yo can choose between KDE 3.5 or 4.
Some stuff won't work, so be careful (stuff hardware brightness control or volume control, also some font sizes might change in my specific case some are unreadable).

FWIW KDE4 and 3.5 live reasonably well together in kubuntu 8.04. In 8.10, when I did the dist upgrade, it wanted to remove the 3.5 packages. I did so... now most of the time I am using Gnome. KDE4 still needs some polish. Good to play with if you are interested but already people are loooking forward to KDE4.2. Just so you have a reasonable expectation :-)
