    OS boot selection screen gone!!

    Here is the scenario: i have two separate drives in my system, one for my kubuntu and the other for XP. I decided to format the XP drive and check Vista. I installed Vista, did some tweaking and then restarted to login to my kubuntu partition. However, when i boot, the screen with the available OS in my system is gone, and Vista start again! Is there a way to restore the menu.lst and work again?

    You have two choices:
    1 Use GRUB to boot both OSs (on the two drives);
    or
    2 Use the Vista bootloader to do it.

    Tip:
    To have GRUB do it, you need to re-install GRUB from your Kubuntu to the MBR of the BIOS first-boot drive, which usually is the drive Vista is on – and that drive is called hd0; then Kubuntu is on hd1.
    That is, if you set BIOS to boot from the Vista drive (first), then the Vista drive is hd0 and the Kubuntu drive is hd1. That's the easiest way to do this.
    IF you have GRUB handle the booting, to re-install GRUB you'll have to use your Kubuntu Live CD.

      Main reason for this is because Vista and XP use two different bootloaders, I believe. Also, Installing Vista probably either overwrote the other bootloader or has forced itself to be the primary OS (Vista assumes it's the ONLY operating system out there, so you have to tell Vista Kubuntu's there.) I use Vista's bootloader (I think it looks and works better), and it would probably be the easier of the two to set up. The link above provided by Qqmike will help with the setup (whichever way you decide to go).
