Downloaded KDE 4.1.1 but received 4.03 - why?

    Hi,
On 11 Sept I saw that KDE 4.1.1 is out - I downloaded it for HardyH (as per instructions gui) but found that the KDE 4.03 was installed- why and what should I do to get 4.1.1?

Not sure why you received 4.03 but this thread gives instructions how to go to 4.11. http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/inde...opic=3096395.0

      Hi me again,
It is interesting that it happened in the first place that 4.03 installed and not 4.1.1 when I followed the correct instructions. It should not have happened like this
however - I used gui and not a terminal - perhaps that has something to do with it - I do get the impression that woriking through the terminal gets the right result but (often) the gui not.

As it is I still do not have the correct version - 4.1.1 even though I tried again and downloaded 100+ meg (again using gui) - I still have 4.0.3

I am not able to use the terminal as I am no programmer and rustic in both life and age - but an avid Ubuntu user - I love ubuntu even though I cannot use a terminal
i will see what I need to do to get 4.1.1

        Did you do this:
Add deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/kubuntu-members-kde4/ubuntu hardy main to your /etc/apt/sources.list.
Without that you will always get kde4.0.x

you cab then just copy and paste this:
        Code:
        sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
into a terminal and answer the questions with "enter"
HP Pavilion dv6 core i7 (Main)
        4 GB Ram
        Kubuntu 18.10

If you don't want to edit your source.list directly you can add the kubuntu kde repository using adpet.

          1) Open adept
          2) Open the Adpet menu and choose: Manage Repositories
          3) Open the Third-Party SW tab
          4) Click on add, and insert: http://ppa.launchpad.net/kubuntu-members-kde4/ubuntu hardy main
          5) Click on close

Now you can do a dist upgrade, either from terminal with sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
Or do the same from Adpet, or other package management GUI tool

            Hi,
I'm slowly getting somewhere - but I still need some (more) help.
            FINTAN
I followed your advise But got some wrong - I hope you (or someone else) can help me further

I sucseeded? in downloading the code:

< sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade > into a terminal and downloading the close to 300Meg data, but then realised that I did not do the 1st part of your advice. End result: I could not open the Adept manager.

With another question to the list I got an answer how to rectify the problem re the Adept M and sucseeded in rectifying the Adept M, so that I can now open it - (I had to # the line of code which was downloaded < the part mentioned earlier>.

Now when I open Adept (to do the 2nd part of your advice) it wants to download all the previously downloaded data - which would have been fine exept that I have limited internet / broadband capacity and cannot afford to download everything again - unless nothing else can be done and then only next month.

Is there any way in which I would be able to get the PC to recognise the downloaded data which I have #-de out? - without reloading all the data

If I take the # away, Adept M will not open.

Perhaps I will just have to wait for next month? but if it can be done not to have to download everything it would be better.

Thanx for help so far -
            Rusty
