Anyway to save the "Panel" each time the system starts?

    Hello,
I have been a linux fan for a while now using it for various server applications in my environment, have tried several times switching to a version of Linux suitable for Desktop usage. Here is my question:

I have added my favorite icons to the panel in the lower right:
    Konsole
    Firefox
    Home
    Pidgin
    Gmail Notifier
    Filezilla
    Thunderbird

How can I keep these there on boot? What application controls this and what config file stores this information?

    Any help appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Adam

    welcome to Kubuntu. Try this:

on the K menu go to system settings.

click on the advanced tab at top of screen

    click on session manager

under "on login" check "restore previous session"

    click apply.

close the window & test it

I would think that should do it.

Wayne, thanks for the reply. I have found that setting to be already set. I will verify that I lose all my icons on reboot the next time since I was playing with some settings last night although I am not confident I made it to this particular screen. Is this setting typically on by default?

Well I must have broken something somehow. I have rebooted now and not only lost the icons in my panel, but also my entire taskbar, k menu, and wallpaper graphic. Interesting...

So I reinstalled and I think the issue is fixed. I think I might have also figured out a difference in my procedure when logging out/rebooting.

Before I was opening a console session and typing "sudo reboot" while now I am using the K Menu - should that affect the behavior of saving vs. not saving my panel icons?

          Thanks

Yes. The reboot was done by a different session!
