Just installed kubuntu 8.04 but cannot login

Hi,

I have just installed kubuntu 8.04 via the cd I get from shipit. The installation is smooth, without any problem. But after I reboot, when I login the screen goes black and after 10-15 seconds, it's back to login screen again... I have also done the "sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg" but no luck... I have internet, but it's PPPoE baesd, so I cannot get it work without GUI. Just think I haven't internet connection at this time.

What video card are you using? Can you get to the shell and check any logs to see what might be holding it up?
