My current distro is opensuse 10.3 and was the only one that I could install on my athlon
PC (and that was with the boot option brokenmodules=pata_ali). Previously I had tried to install debian and kubuntu 7.1 both of which had failed because of DMA or similar problems.
The ali magik chipset seems to be problematic for linux. So before I attempt to change over I was wondering has anyone successfully installed 8.04 with this chipset. Thanks for your help.
