I just built this new system.
Intel QX9650 Duo Core Extreme
Gigabyte EP45-DS3R Motherboard
Corsair TWIN2X2048C4 2G DDR2
Evga 8800GT SSC Vid
2 500AAKS WD SATAII Drives in RAID0 on the Intel Matrix Array ICH10R
Installed Windows XP SP2 on partition 1.
Installed Fedora 8 on partition 2.
Installed Windows Vista Ultimate 64 on partition 3.
Update XP to SP3.
Update Vista to SP1.
All is well, can boot to any and every OS that is installed. Life is good.
I get greedy. We can have 4 primary partitions per physical disk right? Sure.
I insert my Kubuntu 8.04 Live CD and install.
System appears to be installing as expected.
REBOOT when prompted.
Intel RAID array BIOS indicates that the 2 Drives for the RAID0 are no longer active members of the array and that the Array Volume no longer exists.
Can't boot to any internal hard drive.
I read up on "FakeRAID"
I boot from my Kubuntu 8.04 64 bit Live CD.
I type in: sudo apt-get install dmraid
Install completes successfully
Run the command: "dmraid -ay"
The error indicated:
ERROR: isw device for volume "Hammer" broken on /dev/sdb in RAID set "isw_bjiibhfagb_Hammer"
ERROR: isw: wrong # of devices in RAID set "isw_bjiibhfagb_Hammer" [1/2] on /dev/sdb
ERROR: isw device for volume "Hammer" broken on /dev/sda in RAID set "isw_cfjcggbchi_Hammer"
ERROR: isw: wrong # of devices in RAID set "isw_cfjcggbchi_Hammer" [1/2] on /dev/sda
After getting 8 hours shuteye, I just turned the system off.
I then turn the system back on.
The Intel Matrix Array came back online.
I allowed it to boot and was greeted with GRUB Error 17.
I used my trusty SuperGrub usb drive to restore my GRUB MBR and was able to boot to Fedora, XP and Vista once again.
Kubuntu didn't want to play nicely. I had to remove the Kubuntu partition for now.
