install base system without full kde

    Hi!

I'm wondering if its possible to install some base-system-kubuntu without the kde suite and than manually install the packages I need? the problem is some kind of lack of space on my hdd. The 'normal kubuntu' is too large to fit...

    thx

I'd install ubuntu server - for further instructions go here: http://www.howtoforge.com/creating-a...-using-kubuntu

Re: install base system without full kde

i use the minimal cd image

the installation procedure starts off as a standard installation.
though, at some point, it asks you what type of installation you want to carry out.
      there's a lot of pre-cooked types.
otherwise i start from a server install and then move on from there.

oh, the only thing is that this is a network install.
so all the packages are off the net.
if you don't have a good network connection, then this might not be for you.

Ah well thanks - that's what I've been looking for. And jeah - network installation is no problem - i guess my 1gbit connection will be enough
