Adept Updater freezes on "Configuring new version of ssl-cert..." at 92%

Hello,
I am new to Linux. I installed Kubuntu 8.04 with KDE 4 Remix without a glitch in VMware Fusion (Leopard). After installation I immediately ran Adept to update packages and it freezes on "Configuring new version of ssl-cert..." at 92%. Can you help me to solve this issue? Thanks

close adept (or kill it or...)
open a konsole and type:

sudo apt-get install --fix-broken

this will basically resume operations where they stopped.

ps:
i'd consider installing synaptic and use it instead of adept.
it's one of the first things i do whenever i get a new kubuntu.
'cause i hate adept
