HH not booting

I've been running HH with no problems for a while on a well loved Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop. Today however I attempted to boot and it locked. Three more attempts all got the same error.

The last output line was:

pkill: error while loading shared libraries: /lib/libproc-3.2.7.so: unexpected PLT reloc type 0x00

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I Googled "unexpected PLT reloc type" and got a bunch of hits like these:

There's not just one cause, apparently -- you may have a corrupted binary file or link.
