Kubuntu is not booting into the desktop

Hi, I am extremely new to linux, I have installed kubuntu hardy heron. Everything was working fine until today that I tried to load Kubuntu but it booted to the terminal instead of the desktop. I think that the problem is something with the display management because I get this message:
not starting k display manager; it is not the default display manager

Is there any way to fix this??
    Thanx

Re: Kubuntu is not booting into the desktop

Hi I am not an expert but I got a similar problem after upgrading from 7.04 to 8.04.

When you start in console mode, you should be prompted to login.
First type your username and then you should be prompted for your password.
    Then type startx
Do you get an error message or does the gui appears?
If you get an error message google it, see if you find the solution.

In my case I had to replace the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file by a previous version that could be find in the same directory.

Hope this helps, let me know how it goes.
