    Anyone help with Graphics issue?

I'm new to the whole Linux thing so I got the Kubuntu live CD that also offers an install option. I have a Radeon 9250 and the installer GUI is drawing windows, but no buttons such as minimize and close and displaying nothing inside the windows. The mouse is active. I have tried the Safe Graphics option which just gives me a corrupt screen. I've also tried different VGA boot options, none of which have helped.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a solution or offer advice?
    Much appreciated

Prior to actually attempting to perform the installation, does the OS function as expected while running from the LiveCD? When you open functions, do the windows display the borders correctly, with the min/max/close buttons as one expects? If the answers to these is 'yes,' then the problem you are experiencing is going to be with your graphics card. There may still be a kernel line option that you haven't tried that will allow a normal graphical installation to occur. Have you searched our Forum yet, say on radeon 9250 install?

You may also want to consider downloading and burning the iso for the Alternate LiveCD. This LiveCD performs a non-graphical installation and allows you to select the video driver/graphics card. As you have an ATI card, you will (most likely) find that choosing VESA will be your best option. It will result in a standard display setting (640x480), but once the installation is completed, you can then follow the instructions from dibl's post on Trying to download Envy to get and run the Envy Script that will get and install the correct driver for your card.
