I just upgraded to 8.04 and I am a little upset that Firefox 3 was automatically installed with the upgrade. None of the add-ons work with firefox3 for the moment.

i am not happy with that either.
What I did was install swiftweasel:

apart from swiftweasel being optimized for your system it also gives you a separate ~./mozilla/swiftweasel file. This lets you use/install all of your add-ons and themes without touching the firefox profiles.

I tried that it doesn't work very well because:And if you hang so much on the previous version of Firefox you can find it in the repositories as Firefox-2.
When having done an upgrade the old Firefox should still be in place and can be started with:
Code:firefox-2
they share the same .mozilla default folder so that corrupts the look and feel of FF2 and can corupt add ons as well.
Swiftweasel uses a separate default folder

i had the same problom
remove Firefox-3:
Code:apt-get remove --purge Firefox*
enter synaptic and install Firefox-2Code:apt-get install synaptic
now you will have a problem installing Add-ons
