    Why firefox3 Beta

I just upgraded to 8.04 and I am a little upset that Firefox 3 was automatically installed with the upgrade. None of the add-ons work with firefox3 for the moment.

i am not happy with that either.

What I did was install swiftweasel:

have a look t my post there.

apart from swiftweasel being optimized for your system it also gives you a separate ~./mozilla/swiftweasel file. This lets you use/install all of your add-ons and themes without touching the firefox profiles.

    I hope that helps

It will probably not make you any happier but the new Red Hat Fedora has the same Firefox 3b5.

And if you hang so much on the previous version of Firefox you can find it in the repositories as Firefox-2.

When having done an upgrade the old Firefox should still be in place and can be started with:
      Code:
      firefox-2

I tried that it doesn't work very well because:
they share the same .mozilla default folder so that corrupts the look and feel of FF2 and can corupt add ons as well.

Swiftweasel uses a separate default folder

Re: Why firefox3 Beta - solved

          i had the same problom
          remove Firefox-3:
          Code:
          apt-get remove --purge Firefox*
          Code:
          apt-get install synaptic
          enter synaptic and install Firefox-2

now you will have a problem installing Add-ons

here is how to solve this :
