If, after upgrading to Hardy, you've had problems with your systemsettings seg-faulting/crashing, your kcontrol modules vanishing (i.e., kcontrol is empty of modules), or see all your config modules on kmenu's Lost and Found menu, a fix is known:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...gs/+bug/114286
NOTE: You will need to get a copy of the kdebase-data .deb package, the kde-systemsettings package, and, perhaps, the kcontrol package to do the fix suggested. I COULD NOT find any repository that had the kde 3.5.9 packages and was thus forced to use 3.5.8 versions found at my local kde mirror (found on kde.org) because in my attempt to fix the issue I had run 'apt-get autoclean', which removed all downloaded packages. But the fix does work. systemsettings no longer segfaults and kcontrol now has the expected modules and the config modules are no longer on the Lost and Found kmenu. I have not systematically run each to confirm that all work. That's for later.
