Which CD to use on Intel core Duo

I have an HP Laptop with Intel core duo. AFAIK it is a 64 bit processor.
Which installation CD should I use? I tried both and they both work.

My understanding was that the i386 CDs are meant for 32 bit processors and the AMD 64 for 64 bit ones. However as I read the description on those images it seems that the I should use the i386 image for all Intel processors. Is this true? Does the i386 image make use of the 64bit capabilities of the core duo?

Sorry if I sound confusing but... I am confused...

Intel's CPU naming scheme is confusing -- "Dual Core" versus "Core 2 Duo". You really have to chase down the exact model of your CPU and find out if it has the EM64T capability -- that means it is 64-bit. Start here:

    http://www.intel.com/products/processor/index.htm

and then depending on whether it is a Desktop or a Notebook processor, go down to the next level and find your CPU and its specs. If it's a desktop CPU, maybe you can find it here:

    http://compare.intel.com/PCC/default...&culture=en-US

Now I see they're using an "Intel 64" registered trademark to indicate the EM64T technology.

I have the Intel Core 2 Quad. I used the AMD version and it runs great! AFAIK, yours is a 64 bit processor as well, so it should run fine on yours. Just one word of caution. Not all applications are 64 bit compatible. I've not had to much problems though. The only application I really wish would work on mine is GTKRadiant, but there are no precompiled 64 bit versions of it. Otherwise, great!

Yeah, I agree with Dibl. Here is another link:

54 bit!? Hmm. I'm thinking that's just a 'bit' short!!

Part of the core was fried?

            Seriously though - fixed. Oops!
