    Grub splash

I installed grub splash for kubuntu, but it doesn't works.
The grub says that it cant read images they are in xpm.gz format.
    Do I have to format?
Do I have to install additional program where I can change which image I want to have?

Have anyone else installed this package?
I think I got it by adding KDE-looks repository (not sure)

How to add a splash image to Ubuntu Grub

Works. I use this procedure to create my grub boot images.
Windows no longer obstructs my view.
Using Kubuntu Linux since March 23, 2007.

      Thanks!
But I forgot that I have to edit as root, so now I can't edit it no more...
Any ideas how to go around this...
(thanks god everything still works!) Well all but grub splash image, that is...

All you have to do is change the ownership on the file. Two ways to do this, but I prefer doing it from the command line. Open a console. Navigate to where you have the file. Type:
        Code:
        sudo chown username:username filename
where username is your username and filename is the name of the file.

I actually made a post about Grub Splash Screen in Kubuntu. I use Qgrub Editor. Here's my post http://ubuntusite.com/easiest-way-in...b-boot-screen/

Have a look, and you might wish to add your link to one of dibl's how-to's here @ Kubuntu:
