kubuntu 8.04 : Login screen out of range

    Hi ,
I have just installed Kubuntu 8.04 in my PC.

First, I could not change my screen to 1024x768 my desktop was only 800x600. So, I downloaded ATI propritory driver and installed it with this help.

Now, when I start my pc, I get the Kubuntu loading screen with only bouncing left to right loading. After that, I get the CUI screen with all of starting services with [OK] marks. After this I get "out of sync" screen, this is my login screen. I type my password and press Enter, then I get my desktop working perfectly with 1024x768.

I want my login screen, and I also want to make GUI screen at loading screen.

    my xorg.conf :
    Code:
    # xorg.conf (X.Org X Window System server configuration file)
    #
    # This file was generated by dexconf, the Debian X Configuration tool, using
    # values from the debconf database.
    #
    # Edit this file with caution, and see the xorg.conf manual page.
    # (Type "man xorg.conf" at the shell prompt.)
    #
    # This file is automatically updated on xserver-xorg package upgrades *only*
    # if it has not been modified since the last upgrade of the xserver-xorg
    # package.
    #
    # If you have edited this file but would like it to be automatically updated
    # again, run the following command:
    # sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg

Re: kubuntu 8.04 : Login screen out of range - solved

You have a really bad configuration.
You need to modify your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file :

    try this:
