Problems after update and fresh install (Hardy)

I've very disappointed by the latest Kubuntu release (8.04).

The automatic update broke compiz. I decided to try a fresh install but compiz has major problems mostly with the titlebars getting all funky and compiz-kde crashing. It also has problems with the restricted driver ballon popping up in weird spots, alt-F2 doesn't always bring up the command line, and the kicker is slow to load. And this all from just an hour or so of use! Kubuntu 7.10 was a much better.

I was using the amd64 version.

My opinion of the Kubuntu and KDE have really taken a hit recently.

    KDE4 is destroying KDE.

I guess you have to bear in mind that KDE4 is not yet regarded as stable. I too installed the AMD64 version. I decided that it was not good enough for a production system and re-installed the KDE3 version which works really well.

For me the choice was stick with KDE4 and contribute to its development (by acting as a tester) or revert to the tried and tested KDE3. I opted for the latter and have the reloaded version on a VM so that I can still play and contribute if possible.
