    Using 'Version Upgrade'

    Hi,

    This is just a comment.

Being a noob I'm still wandering aimlessly around Kubuntu but overall I think it Roars! That said I've now learnt not to upgrade on-line immediately a new version is available but to wait until at least two or three weeks have passed. Let the bugs get sorted first then try it.

So up to now I have relied upon a fresh install from disc as the downloads have always created problems hence this new (sensible?) approach.

Would it be fair to say that perhaps the six monthly 'upgrades' are generally too ambitious? I do find a disc install a little trying as I have to reinstall all the things that I like.

    Mmmm anyway just a thought.

years of software development tell me that
even if ubuntu developers had a 1 year release cycle
you'd still have to wait your 3-4 weeks
after a new release is out
for macroscopic issues to get sorted.

    this said...

i personally think that a 1 year release cycle
    would be more than...enough.

this is why i've chosen to go from 6.10 to 7.10.
    and will skip 8.04.
