How to add a shortcut to an application?

In the old KDE-3 we could add a short to an arbitrary application by using the properties option on the right mouse click menu of the menu entry. So I was able to define for instance: Ctrl-Alt-N for Netbeans and Ctrl-Alt-C for eclipse, etc.

Now, where is this functionality in KDE-4?
How can I add shortcuts to arbitrary applications?

I had the same problem since 8.04 RC and only yesterday realised if you open your home folder then you have a folder named desktop. Open it and you can work on it just like the old KDE 3 days. Right-click,create shortcuts, delete items, etc. Enjoy

Thanks, m8. Not what I had in mind, but usable. The downside is, your desktop get littered with keyboard shortcuts..... (or did I misunderstand?)

If so, it means the functionality is just not directly available, like it used to be, from the menu.
No problemo, but as soon as I find out where to do a feature request, I will enter this one.
