Can't install kubuntu 8.04 on Dell Vostro 200

    I've just downloaded Kubuntu 8.04 KDE4 Remix.
I was so excited because i wanted to try out the new kde4 interface(it looks so nice). So i downloaded wubi, and started the installation.
It made me restart, and then i saw that it modified my boot loader so that i have xp and kubuntu 8.04.
I selected kubuntu and didnt't press any more key's.
I waited a bit and then i saw it rebooted my machine!!!!
I made another attempt but the same. I the press "esc" after i selected "kubuntu" at the boot loader and selected some other "options", even live cd, or safe graphics. None of them worked.
I even tryied a cd and that doesnt work either .
But i when i use the cd and select "try kubuntu ..." it stars loading and eventually i end up to a console of some sort that has a message above :

    "BusyBox v1.1.3 (Debian 1:1.1.3-5ubuntu12) ....."
"Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands ... "
    and below
    (initramfs)_ (here is the cursor)

So is the anything else i need to know to install kubuntu (or ubuntu for that matter) ?!

    Can anyone help me ?!

    What I have is similar.

    I have a Gateway GT5404 ... Mainboard Intel D945GCL

I installed via wubi ... it made the iso ... it put the boot entry into the windows boot record.

It will not load any options except "live cd" on the menu. It just comes up with the busy box prompt.

    Any way to fix this?

      Fixed it!

The Ubuntu splash screen loads for awhile then exits to a BusyBox/(initramfs) prompt.
Reboot and hit Esc when prompted to enter the boot menu. Hit 'e' to edit the first line. Next select the second line and hit 'e' again. Input 'irqpoll' towards the end of the bootline. Then hit 'enter' and then 'b' to boot.

Found this on the wubi wiki.

I followed ur advice and it finally worked, but i have another problem now .
I want to configure the network settings .
I looked around and i didnt find any other way of accesing the network settings other that hitting right-click on the lower-right icon (near the digital clock) and then clicking "manual configuration". Then it asks me for my credentials (password) so i enter my log-on password, hit enter, and nothing happenes !!! . What gives ?!!
Is there something wrong in what i am doing ??!

How can i configure my network ?!

Glad to hear that both of you got the wubi to work. I could not get it to work since I have Nvidia Raid in my machine and Kubuntu wants nothing to do with that (yet I hope) So I just ended up wiping my OS drive and repartitioning it one for Vista (need my game fix from time to time and I got vista for free from MS so I figured I'd give it a good run through, but I do spend 95% of my time in Kubuntu) and the other partition for Kubuntu. If you ever decide to go this route (with wubi I don't see why you would though) just remember the MS likes to be first on everything apparently including the 1st partition on the drive as well. Hope you both like Kubuntu as the rest of us.
Kubuntu II on both Laptop and Desktop and some servers here at the office
