    Kubuntu 8.04 Final and KDE

Just a couple of concerns about the final 8.04 for Kubuntu.

Quite frankly, KDE 4 - while an exciting development - doesn't sound like it's quite ready for prime time. I've seen postings that indicate that KDE 4 will be fairly stable, but not "complete". I'm not sure what that means. Also, when Canonical says that KDE 3.5.9 gets commercial support and KDE 4 gets community support, what does that mean for everyday, non-commercial Kubuntu 8.04 users who choose KDE 3.5 as their desktop of choice (like me, probably) in terms of security fixes, etc.?

When 8.04 is released as a final (out of Beta), it will be with KDE 3.5.9. KDE 4 is still to immature to be rolled out with the new OS release.

If you're using either KDE you'll be getting all the security fixes and such. You can purchase support for KDE 3 from Canonical, that's what they mean by commercial. But they are not willing to sell support for KDE4 yet. Both desktops will receive security fixes regularly.

As far as KDE 4 not being ready for prime time... I've been running it since January on my production system. If you check some of my posts you'll see I'm no linux expert at all.
