It should be simply

sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop

and then choose your DE from the dropdown menu on the login panel.

Right, just wanted to know if anyone had experience with the process. At first I started with a fresh Ubuntu 7.10 install, updated it, and converted to Kubuntu. When I tried to do a internet upgrade to Hardy Beta it failed miserably. I got multiple errors and an eventual crash. Since I already had Ubuntu 8.04 beta, I installed that, and am now converting to Kubuntu. I let you know how it goes.

Just finished the update and it went off without a hitch. I can see KDE is much improved over the past few weeks.

KDE 3.5? That's the default. To raise the drama level, you could install kde4-core.

Yeah I meant KDE 4, even so got to stick 3.5.9 for now.
