I followed
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HardyUpgrades/Kubuntu
and all went +-as it suggests
two anomalies:
it warned me of two config changes: one to cups, one to smb.conf- both of which I refused
my printer seems to be intact thus far
However:
in a console I get this:
tom@fawn:~$ sudo apt-get update
sudo: unable to resolve host fawn
FOUND THAT /ETC/HOSTS HAD BEEN MODIFIED, 'FAWN' REMOVED FROM LOCALHOST
REBOOTED IN RECOVERY MODE TO GET ROOT ACCESS, DID THE EDIT, NOW IT WORKS.
tom@fawn:~$ locate smb.conf
locate: can not open `/var/lib/mlocate/mlocate.db': No such file or directory
what am I missing here?
Second anomaly:
the Reboot Required box came up before the Cleanup was finished, and then it rebooted entirely on its own (ie I touched nothing)
Is there something I should do now to force the cleanup to complete itself?
