    Tried it, didn't like it

I downloaded and burn Kubuntu 8.04 desktop beta and ran it as a liveCD. Not only did it take forever to bootup, but it immediately froze. I've tried it a couple of times and seem to get the same result. Isn't this thing coming out soon?

it's first beta release. if it doesn't work for you then now is the time to start submitting bug reports

LiveCDs are notoriously slow to boot, and this does in no way reflect on the boot time of the installed system.

If you are new to Linux/Kubuntu, please do not use the betas, as they are meant for bug finding and testing only. Either go with Gutsy Gibbon (7.10) or wait a month and use Hardy Heron (8.04).

I tried the beta because I was thinking of upgrading my current Kubuntu 7.10 to 8.04 using the alternative CD. Doesn't the beta have KDE4? It looked exactly the same as 7.10.

For the moment, there are two versions. Read more about it on https://wiki.kubuntu.org/HardyHeron/Beta/Kubuntu

              Hi All,
I ran it from the upgrade, it all went very well. I was going to stick to but I could not get VMware player to install. It failed on the modules. But it looks great and was a bit faster than 7.10
