    kde4 cd finally released?

cd images of kde4-based kubuntu hardy heron finally appeared?
    http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/kubuntu-kd...-live/current/

I'm hesitating to install it though, since it isn't mentioned @ kubuntu.org.
    probably early-alpha or something

Hmmm -- i386 version only. But you are right, the KDE4 apps are included with Kubuntu KDE4 desktop.

Probably you can get the same result with 8.04 Alpha 5, plus daily updates, plus kde4-core and any other KDE4 packages that you want.

    Thanks!

            First Impressions:

Nice Boot Menu. Like how it is set up.
Once logged in to the desktop it falls apart.
            a. Fonts so large can't read the menus
            b. Have to boot with Safe Graphics mode to see a usable desktop.
            Dolphin not installed/available at all.
Konqueror when used as the file manager crashes every time I try to view any files or network machines.
Drives on the machine do not auto-mount (could be related to the Dolphin/Konqueror problems).

Yikes! My KDE 4.01 on HH Alpha 5 is way better than that! (he says, knocking on his wooden head ....). 8)

I'm hoping it's just that ISO not being complete. I say that because I did notice the MD5 from kb3 and what the server link stated did not match, so there is a strong possibility the wrong image was placed on that server.

I think the correct way to install daily images is to navigate here:
                  http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/kubuntu-kde4/daily-live/
instead and select the directory with the latest date; atm - http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/kubuntu-kd...live/20080226/ - because "/current" directory might be updated while you download it, no?

I hope so. I am enjoying my Hardy experience so far, but after a few failed attempts at KDE4 I have decided to wait until Hardy Beta is out. But will I have to install a KDE4 CD if I want the best KDE4 experience??

What happened? If you can run Hardy Heron, you should be able to run KDE 4 if you want to.

Not necessarily (depending on the date). With a respectable internet connection you can get it all from the repository -- same packages as they have assembled to release on a CD. The CD is kind of a "moment in time" when the developers have got what they consider to be a well-functioning release to offer.

I've burned the new KDE4 HH Alpha and I'm ready to test. I hope to report something better than last time

We'll just say you wisely practiced before you did the real installation!

I think you should make a new post about alpha release to avoid any confusion and continue the discussion there. (this topic was originally about daily build anyway and I would like it to "fade" away to irrelevance now that we can download alphas)
