I'm still downloading it right now.

I used PCLinuxOS live CD to back up my email and now I'm just waiting to burn Alpha 5 and then install it.

Heh heh hehhhh -- got it! Installed Alpha 5, then kde4-core, then nvidia-glx-new, and a few necessary packages, and guess what? (Knocking on wood) I'm writing this from KDE4 on HH Alpha 5!

        Here's what it says:
        Code:
        dibl@cville:~$ uname -a
        Linux cville 2.6.24-8-generic #1 SMP Thu Feb 14 20:13:27 UTC 2008 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Color me a happy camper once again!

Hmmm....just wondering or missing something, probably both .

I have been updating/grading since alpha 2 and
              Code:
              uname -a
              gives me:
              Linux fintanws2 2.6.24-5-generic #1 SMP Thu Jan 24 19:45:21 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux
HP Pavilion dv6 core i7 (Main)

@Fintan, do you have other kernels listed in your repos? Is the kernel that Bongo or I got with Alpha 5 listed there?

2.6.24-8 is the only one I saw

                    Re: Alpha 5 available

Guys, I have a partition that will become my next Kubuntu, with latest Hardy (I update every few days). I am having two issues, I wonder if they are well known bugs or should I report:

                    1. In KDE 4, every once in a while and all configuration is lost. The Panel is back to the default config, the Desktop too (all Plasmoids I had chosen are lost, I can re-add them).

                    2. Once I logout, I get a blank screen. I need to kill and restart kdm. I am using the NVIDIA driver, wonder if that's the problem

                    Thanks for any input!

I've had this problem (and seen it reported here before) off and on since Gutsy Alpha. I'm not sure what causes or fixes it. But you're not alone. Am I not the most helpful person on the board? hehe sorry.. but at least you know it's not just you.

:-) Thanks! I'll search a bit, and see if I fill a bug report. Cheers!

I was right, I was missing something :P

I am using my GG grub to boot and forgot to use the latest kernel in the menu.lst to boot HH

So, all is well back at the ranch
