    Belkin F5D7010 v7023

    Howdy,

I've got a Dell Precision 4400 and am running Kubuntu Hardy 64-bit. I tried to get the built-in Intel Wireless (5000 series) to run but no avail so I went and bought a Belkin Wireless-G pcmcia card (model F5D7010 v7023) and am having issues getting that to run.

It didn't work out of the box so I've been trying ndiswrapper. If I try with the standard winxp drivers (from disk or downloaded), ndiswrapper complains that it won't load a 32-bit driver. If I try with the X64 driver, ndiswrapper fails with errors in dmesg and what looks like a small stack trace.

Also, I noticed ndiswrapper stating at one point to use a rtlXXXX driver. However, if I try without ndiswrapper, the card still is not recognized.

Has anyone had any luck with this model/version of the Belkin card?

    Thanks,

    Beemer

yes i have had luck with belkin cards but they sometimes required Madwifi which you can get here http://sourceforge.net/projects/madwifi/

Multiband Atheros Driver for WiFi (MADWIFI): Linux driver for 802.11a/b/g universal NIC cards - Cardbus, PCI, or miniPCI - using Atheros chip sets.

Ok - I tried the MadWifi drivers but they didn't see anything at all. The v70xx isn't listed on their site so I don't know if it's using an atheros chipset. I've usually had good luck with Belkin stuff either working out of the box or just using ndiswrapper so this is really frustrating. I'm wondering if running a 64-bit Kubuntu is what's stopping me.
