I just noticed last night that I can see a kind of scroll in my screen. You know like the refresh rate might be a little off. also some of my pics that come up for desktop background are pixelated and they use to real sharp. my settings are 1440 X 900 50hz refresh. I am not sure where to start work on this one. any suggestions? oh, BTW I installed the nvidia driver with envy (today) and I am running compiz fusion.

It would be good to try to sort out whether the problem lies in the domain of hardware or software. It sounds more like hardware/thermal issues than a software glitch of some kind. And if it's hardware, it could be the graphics card or the monitor. Or, possibly running the Nvidia driver with Compiz is running it a little too hot.
Can you boot a Live CD and see how it looks with no special driver or effects? Let it run awhile, so it's heated up the same as in your installed system when you use it.
