K3B will not start using PIONEER SATAII DVD-RW

K3B will not start using PIONEER SATAII DVD-RW.

Once I shutdown machine and reboot. After Kubuntu (KDE3.5.10 and KERNEL 2.6.24.21-generic) has finished loading K3B will then start. But if I close it and try to restart it will not start.

    Here is terminal start

Re: K3B will not start using PIONEER SATAII DVD-RW

Just an update still having the same problem.

Since I have Kubuntu on its own harddrive , I loaded 8.10 on another harddrive and tried and it seems to work but man 8.10 I hate and man is it every buggy.

I reloaded the same harddrive with 8.04.1 and it is the same problem.

    Question for anybody!!!!!
Is it possible to use 8.10 kernel in 8.04.1??
I did try copying kernel from 8.10 to 8.04 and modifying the menu list but it says that I am missing files.
I just want to find out it the kernel fixed my SATA DVD or was it KDE4.

Re: K3B will not start using PIONEER SATAII DVD-RW

      KERNEL 2.6.24.21-generic is the problem,
I was able to copy and use the kernel from 8.10 (2.6.27-7-generic) in 8.04. I added kernel to my grub list for experimentation.

K3b worked right-away but then other things would not work like network , sound, video(ati).
      So I am ****-out-of-luck.

Looks like I will have to switch to 8.10 when ATI fixes their drivers (ATI 8.10) because the propertiy drivers for ATI are crap supplied by KUBUNTU and the ATI DRIVERS 8.10 from website don't support the new XORG used in Kubuntu 8.10.

      So I am ending this
