Printer Not listed in Add Printer Wizard [SOLVED]

I have done quite a bit of research on this already so I'll try to explain the situation and all the work-arounds that have failed to produce results

    First, the hardware profiles
    Desktop running Windows XP serving
    ----- Epson Photo RX595

    Laptop running Ubuntu 8.04
----- Which plays acceptably with the printer (after some gutenprint upgrading)

    Destop running Kubuntu 8.04
    ----- Which is the problem

When I try to add the new printer using the KDE system settings (Add Printer Wizard), It finds my printer through the SMB Settings, but Printer Model Selection shows no comparable model under Epson. The choices jump from RX510 to RX600 (neither of which work).

After extensive research into the problem, I installed Gutenprint 5.2 which is supposed to work but the Printer Model Selection screen remains unchanged. help?

Solution (thanks to MrKennie from #kubuntu IRC)

So The solution (as I suspected 8)) was to bypass the System Settings altogether.
The local CUPS interface gives you step by step guide for installing the software and shows all installed drivers. URI of your printer is smb://SERVER/PRINTER and it's easy as pie! thanks again MrK!
