printer oddity [SOLVED]

    printer oddity [SOLVED]

    8.04 / 3.5.9
    new drive, new install

    I didn't have this problem with previous install- I even had it shared with XP machines around the house

    I have an HP Laserjet4+ connected parallel
    when I try to add printer (K > System Settings > Printer), the local printer > parallel interface is greyed out in the wizard- thus I can't install

    oddity is I dual-boot to XP as well, and there it works finest kind

    thoughts?

    Open your file manager and browse to /dev/lp0 and check the permissions. If They are set to not allow anyone but root, see this post:
