    No Sound in Kubuntu 64?

I am trying out linux and cannot get any sound. It works fine in windows but not linux.

I have an Asus Xonar DX PCIE soundcard.

In Vista 64 it sounds ALOT better then my old X-FI but in Linux it doesn't even work at all.

    Any help is appreciated.

Did you boot a Live CD -- did sound work with that?

Have you checked...to see IF the Sound is 'muted'...or not?
      It is....by 'default'.
Try out a Music CD.....when you have checked.

No sound with a live cd.

        Nothing is muted.

Finding out this card is not supported in Linux yet.

Guess I will have to put aside Linux again until they get this card working.

Try a Creative Sound-card, instead of that ASUS Xonar.
Even an old Creative Live! 5.1 will work.....and, as Creative says "Creative Live! 5.1 has reached the end of it's 'service life'. "
(Funny thing is.......That old Creative card will still work wonders...in a Linux System. Will fire up...as though it is still brand-new.)
