Sound Card - Mixer not Found

    Hi All

My Asus motherboard has an onboard Realtek ALC655. The icon shows a "Mixer cannot be found" tooltip.

I've looked at some of the basic troubleshooting guides & googled appropriately, but I'm not able to get this mixed. On the ubuntu forums I see this problem is reported, but not resolved.

Perhaps I should mention that everything works in the kernel that came with Hardy originally.

    Can anybody help?

    Regards

      Yeah.
      Swap to a Creative Labs 'add-in' Sound-card.
At least, it is 'supported'...by Linux/Creative Labs.
I am using Realtek, on both my machines.
One using Ubuntu, the other Kubuntu.
The Unbuntu one works (auto-detected, possibly, on a "Vista-compatiable" motherboard).
      The Kubuntu does not.
Possibly because the Realtek 'on-board' Sound is not 'auto-detected'..on this one, being that it is NOT a "Vista-compatiable" motherboard. (Go figure.....a solution, here for me, to swap to a Creative Labs card.)
Less 'messing about'...configuring what does not want to be configured.
      Or 'auto-detected'.
      Easy.
