    Thinkpad 61 issues

I have just gotten a TP61. I bought it with the smallest hard drive since I had a big fast one in my Lenovo 3000. That laptop used essentially the same hardware so I took the HD out of the L3000 and stuck it in the TP. Booted right up and started working. I am using kubuntu Hardy. Take that vista. I do have a couple of issues that I have not been able to solve.

I cannot do a restart. Using a gui button or by running shutdown -r 0. The thing will shut down fine just wont restart. Everything closed up like the restart is going to take place and then things just hang. On the console the last line says restarting the system. Then I have to use the power button. I am not sure but think it may have something to do with the video driver. My xorg.conf shows vesa after did a dpkg --reconfigure -xserver=xorg. I sure would like a peek at some other xorg.conf.

When I suspend to ram things shut down fine and the moon indicating sleep lights up. When I resume the computer starts up and looks like it is going to come back then goes back to sleep. If I press the enter button at just the right time it will continue to wake up.

Last and the least. The wifi light is on constantly. It use to blink.

I have only had the thing 24 hours and have googled some but nothing yet.

    Love this laptop.

    Re: Thinkpad 61 issues

Although named xorg.txt (I could not directly upload the .conf file), this is the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file from my Thinkpad T61p.

I had difficulties installing and running with 8.04, and I reinstalled 7.10.

After July 3, I upgraded 7.10 to 8.04.1 flawlessly. You'll see the upgrade as 8.04, but in fact it is 8.04.1. A lot of work went into it, and a lot of things were fixed.
