Hey everyone, With the latest kernel -19 my sound blaster Audigy card does not work anymore and also after you log in the screen goes completely white but you can still see the mouse and if you move it to say over where the K menu is at you can see that it changes it's look but you can't see the panel or the menu. Not really sure where to go with this. For now I am just using Kernel -18 but would like to get this fixed though so that way I know where to go with it from there. Oh btw I am running HH. Thanks.

Re: No Audio with latest Kernel and Video goes all screwy after log in
I know that this is going to sound silly but do you need the output while the kernel is running -19 or can I give you the output of the -18? If you need the -19 I'll be able to get that to you this evening when I get home and I can reboot it into -19 otherwise I can just ssh into it from work and get you the output from here. Thanks for your help.Kubuntu II on both Laptop and Desktop and some servers here at the office

Re: No Audio with latest Kernel and Video goes all screwy after log in
Edited to Add: I knew as soon as I actually made a post, something would click and a solution would appear. I had tried to go through the Comprehensive Guide and got stuck at the step where you download the drivers. I skipped to the "alsamixer" step and ran alsamixer from the command line and found the problem. Using the gui mixer (Kmix), I wasn't able to find any sort of entry for this, but in the command line, alsamixer had an entry for "speaker" that needed to be unmuted. Problem solved!
I'm having a similar problem with my IBM Thinkpad T61 - after the kernel upgrade, I lost sound.  Video seems to be doing just fine.  I read elsewhere on the forums that upgrading from KDE 4.05 to 4.1 beta fixed the problem for some, but not so for me (however 4.1 looks very sweet--I love the added functionality on the widgets).
I've been trying to fix this problem for almost a week, and had originally thought it was due to a KDE4 update, but when I tried to reboot into kde3 (previously also fine with sound), I got no sound.  My Windows XP partition has all the sound you could ever need, so by process of elimination, I'm guessing it's kernel 19 that's the culprit.
Here is my lspci output:

Re: No Audio with latest Kernel and Video goes all screwy after log in
Good thinking. My suggestion would be to boot into the older kernel and see whether sound works again.Once your problem is solved please mark the topic of the first post as SOLVED so others know and can benefit from your experience! / FAQ

Re: No Audio with latest Kernel and Video goes all screwy after log in
Yeah I'm just using the -18 kernel for the time being but it would be nice to know what the culprit is though and if it's fixable.Kubuntu II on both Laptop and Desktop and some servers here at the office
