I don't claim great expertise on your hardware, but this section appears to reflect some difficulties with the monitor/display. I know that "EDID" is a part of the display ID and interface to the graphics card, and there's definitely some problem in that area. I don't know if this is a laptop or desktop system -- it would be interesting to know what happens when a different display is connected to that Nvidia card.

The other thing I noticed is your "gray screen" AFTER you log in to KDE. That should not happen, and suggests a problem with KDM (the KDE Display Manager). It might help, and can't hurt, to run (in the Konsole)
    Code:
    sudo dpkg-reconfigure kdm
Just answer the questions and finish the script, and it might straighten out at least part of this problem.

Actually, instead of KDM, shouldn't he reconfigure xserver-xorg ?
There he would be able to set easily the resolution...

True -- it would not hurt to run the xserver-xorg configuration script either:

      Code:
      sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
However, that "gray screen after GUI login" is a weird and different symptom, unless he just loaded KDE 4.1 Beta 2, in which case that's what you're supposed to see. KDM (the KDE 3.5.9 version) is the default HH display manager, and there should not be such things happening after the graphics driver is loaded and the login "greeter" is presented. That's why I am suspicious of KDM.

ok the the dpgk-reconfigure kdm worked.

i can see the windows, BUT SOMETHINK IS KILLIN THE HEADER , IF I CATCH THAT THINGKY ILL KILL IT

no realy, something is closeing the headers of all the windows.

and an extra! no pannel bar

hmmm, what to do , what to do?

        hmm, i only blame beryl...

EDIT: now as the kubuntu starts, i can see that the a software is loaded in the boot sequnce that mess up the kde. maybe its leftovers of the compiz or beryl?

how do i know what is started ? how do i edit it? or even better. how do i init the startup software?

(before the software manage to boot the kdm is in proper order and the title headers apear)

        thanks guys.

i have no idea what solved it.

i opened the system with another user

          worked

then switched back to my user

          worked....

thank you for all the help

          d flecktor out.
