Alsamixer lists wrong sound card

I have a C-Media CMI 8770 hooked up to my DVD/Receiver via an optical TOSLINK connection. Under Ubuntu I have been able to get it to work by unmuting something in Alsamixer.

I have recently installed Kubuntu. Alsamixer does not list the C-Media card, but lists the sound card on my ATI HD 3750. How do I get ALSA to recognize the correct card?

Thanks for alerting me to the problem with my sound. The solution is in the Comprehensive Sound Problems Solution Guide at http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=205449 in the section titled Configuring default soundcards / stopping multiple soundcards from switching

I regret that you need to use a command line, and make sure you write the file to disk ('save') before exiting
