Lexmark Z645 Printer not working

Hello guys?

Has anyone of you here encountered some printing problems on kubuntu hardy?

I have installed the Lexmark Z645 and it was automatically detected by kubuntu. But when I tried to print, it always have an error. It was listed under system settings>printer. Test print will give me an error as well like this:

A print error occurred. Error message received from system:

cupsdoprint -P '640_Series' -J 'KDE Print Test' -H '/var/run/cups/cups.sock:631' -U 'xxxxx' -o ' multiple-document-handling=separate-documents-uncollated-copies orientation-requested=3' '/usr/share/apps/kdeprint/testprint.ps' : execution failed with message:
client-error-document-format-not-supported

any help will be very much appreciated.

I am sorry to break the news to you, but the Linux Open Printing Database considers your printer to be a Paperweight, i.e. it just won't work in Linux because the printer itself has only minimal electronics. In order to print, the printer uses low level commands that they have provided to M$ for the Windows OS. For proprietary reasons, Lexmark has not provided these commands to Linux. Lexmark makes a number of printers that DO work with Linux, but personally I prefer HP printers.
